Éist - Online Dance Project with Edwina Guckian
A new online project for Sean Nós Dancers aged 14 - 25 years.
Working with Edwina Guckian online and in your own time, each dancer will be assigned an individual significant piece of music from musicians that have had impressive and important impacts on Irish traditional music and dance. You will research this music and musician through the Irish Traditional Music Archives and learn to dance the tune; building rhythms and movements specific to the music they have received. No two dancers will be assigned the same piece of music
The project will take place from the beginning of October to the end of November 2024 and is aimed at Sean Nós dancers of an advanced level that can dance solo, confidently. If you are looking for opportunities to perform and create outside of competition settings, then this is for you.
You can choose the level of commitment you want to make within the project and how much time you want to spend on it. All participants will meet online with Edwina both individually and collectively as a group and the dates and times of these meetings will be organised around you and your availability. Building a lasting community and friendships amongst the group is vital to the project and when all the work is done, we will share the results with each other (either online or we can meet up to do so in an arts centre - you can decide as we go along. The project is yours to lead together.
